I’ve just become aware that there are only twelve days left in the year of 2011. And boy, has this year gone by quickly! ‘A blink, a blog post and poof – it’s nearly 2012!’ It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? 2011 has been a very eventful year for Paint It Lace and me. I became aware of my passionate interest in the world of fashion, and voilà! Paint It Lace was established in July, and flourished instantaneously.
And so, I bring to you a review of my favourite posts and the 2011 journey;
This was the first ever post for Paint It Lace. As a girl who will not and cannot miss her monthly copy of Vogue Magazine, is it any wonder that I took inspiration from those beautiful glossy pages? I will never forget the first time I clicked that ‘publish’ button; I never looked back. This post was also my first review of the year’s popular trends.
It’ll come as no surprise to followers of Paint It Lace that I take an awful lot of inspiration from the gorgeous Emma Watson, and she features often in my posts. I spent a lot of time, putting my admiration into words and sharing with you ‘Emma’s sophisticated personal style, sprinkled with innocence, and her ability to take one and all’s breath away…’
I wanted to incorporate literature and the arts into Paint It Lace along with the fashion and style side of things. Ever since I picked up The Picture of Dorian Gray, the one and only novel of the magnificent Oscar Wilde, I haven’t been able to put it down. The book sits loyally at my bed side with its spin ripped and torn from continuous reading. I think this is a wonderful and inspiring read and I just had to share it!
This post has to be one of my very favourite. I had such fun writing it. I love scanning the web to share with you the best buys, and tips to sport the latest trends.
This post was inspired by the community of Independent Fashion Bloggers, and helped me to explore my star sign and my own personality. These guys really helped Paint It Lace find its feet.
Another Emma Watson post.. This was my first makeup tutorial. This is a very popular trend, and can be worn day or night. I received a few photos from people who had followed these instructions and given the smoky eye effect a go – and I have to say you all looked stunning!
This is my favourite post from all the red carpet events I have reported on. If there is an entertainment event taking place I always make sure to bring to you the best of the dressed! I always enjoy sifting through the photographs and choosing my favourites. And I love to hear who you would award best dressed. I always try to take a positive approach to my posts (we don’t have time for negativity).
I just want to thank every single one of you for visiting Paint It Lace, and for your comments and advice. I hope you’ll come on another amazing journey through 2012 with me (:
I was recently introduced to the beautifully crafted jewellery designs of Andrew Geoghegan and I thought I would share with you some of my favourite pieces; perfect to accessorize your Festive Wardrobe, or to wrap up and put a smile on the faces of your loved ones.
The Necklaces;
This sumptuous Sugar-coated Necklace radiates elegance and beauty. It is the perfect statement piece, with an 18ct gold chain flowing into a diamond set spiral, and a dripping yellow pear cut diamond as its centre stone.
This smooth and sleek Elegance Pendant, with a single brilliant cut diamond, screams elegance with an edge; a very sophisticated piece, perfect to accessorize that Little Black Dress.
The Bracelet;
This gorgeous Reveal Bangle has to be my favourite! The simplicity of its careful design and lavish façade are enough to tempt any girl this Christmas.
Coupled with the highest quality metals and diamonds ensure timeless pieces of contemporary jewellery that are both desirable modern day classics and treasures to be passed down through the generations.”
I know what I’ll be asking Santa for this Christmas!
If you haven’t had a chance to sport the Jewel Tone Trend of 2011 this year, then this is the perfect opportunity to have a go. Rich ruby, deep emerald and brilliant sapphires are the ideal block colours to model on a dress this season to make a statement this Christmas.
From Snake and Crocodile; to Leopard and Tiger; whether you’re spotted or stripped, you’ll be on trend this Christmas. Teamed together with jet black tights, you’ll be looking stylish and warm.
For a traditional Christmas, try a dress in bright, bold red. This is a tricky colour to wear, but if you hold yourself well and accessorize metallic it can be pulled of flawlessly.
I recently came across a range of British-made boot socks and toppers from the brand Breenies, and I just couldn’t keep the discovery to myself!
Breenies are the perfect accessory to help sport the Faux Fur trend of 2011-12, with a wide range of fur-trimmed boot cuffs, from plain black and greys; to wolf and leopard prints. You can now follow in the footsteps, pretty literally, of Rihanna, Emma Watson and Kate Moss with ease.
Breenies fit and complement any size and style of boot, and they’re thermal fleece material and luxe texture will keep you snug and warm – perfect for the colder months.
Of course, Breenies aren’t just for the Wellington boot. They can efficaciously accessorize any style; from knee-high to ankle, thick leather to delicate suedette, and casual to a night out on the town.
When writing a post for Paint It Lace, it’s almost a ritual for me to plug in my earphones and switch on my latest playlist.
Here’s a few of the current songs playing on repeat;
1) The Call, Regina Spektor
I studied Regina’s beautiful voice and adoring music as a unit of my Music Btec. studies. She has a wonderful talent that she really makes the most of. The Call is a gentle and calming song, with a real depth, that’s glittered with something magical. It’s no surprise that this song sits at the top of my ‘Most Played’ list.
2) Lego House, Ed Sheeran
‘And it’s dark in a cold December, but I’ve got you to keep me warm.’ The romantic that I am absolutely adores this song. Does it help that the gorgeous Rupert Grint stars in the video? Why, yes it does (:
3) You Make My Dreams, Hall and Oates
(500) Days of Summer has to be at a high on my list of favourite films, and every time I hear these lyrics the image of Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) skipping, dancing and clicking his way through NYC puts a matching vivacious smile on my face.
4) Quelqu’un ma dit, Carla Bruni
Carla Bruni’s soft, twinkling French vowels could sing me to sleep any night. This is always the perfect song to wind down to after a busy day.
5) We Found Love, Rihanna
‘Yellow diamonds in the light, and we’re standing side by side, as your shadow crosses mine, what it takes to come alive.’ As soon as the first beats kick it, I just want to get up, drop everything and dance, wherever I may be. This is one of those songs that will make you feel on top of the world; invincible.
6) Run The World (Girls), Beyonce
Beyonce is a woman with a powerful, strong and determined persona, which is always reflected through her great, beautiful vocals.
Who would come out on top for you, if you were to cherry-pick the most influential songs on your playlist?
