With an abundance of thick florals, rich Aztec designs and bold block patterns dressing manikins in shop windows across the country, how are we supposed to choose between one from the other?!
I’ve put together a little lesson in fashion for us girlies on how to mix and match the right prints and patterns for the best fun and flirty looks. After searching the net for my favourite garments, I’ve created a few outfits to help demonstrate for you;
This is the most extreme out of the six looks I have for you. There’s so much going on with these prints that they explode into one, creating the perfect statement outfit. Top from Republic, Jacket from Top Shop, Leggings from Top Shop, and Shoes from Republic.
This is a very simple look for those who aren’t as brave when mixing prints. Sticking with two colours for both the prints and patterns will almost always work for you – a very good starting point. Cardigan from Coast, Skirt from Republic, and Shoes from Republic.
This look is oh so cute! It stands out in a sophisticated manner, while being very pretty and feminine with the right pairing. Camisole from Top Shop, Skirt from River Island, Shoes from Top Shop, Necklace from Claire’s Accessories.
As mixing prints and patterns is already a very popular fashion trend, you can ease the work as many highstreet designers have already mixed them for you like this skirt from River Island. I’ve added another floral design into the mix with this gorgeous blouse from Mango; accompanied by a blazer from Top Shop, and heels from Top Shop.
Last but not least, is an outfit where I have thrown a different texture in. This flowery vest from Mango is just gorgeous and très joli. I’ve teamed it with a tube skirt from River Island and pale pink heels from Schuh.
I hope this has helped, and can be drawn on for inspiration. If you have any tips for print and pattern mixing just let us know by leaving a comment below.
