I’m not going to hold back when presenting you with this Spring trend, as I absolutely adore it! Retro-style bras worn as tops sprinkled down the runway for Spring 2012. At first I thought I wouldn’t be seeing very much of it, as at first glance it seems to be such a risky garment to pull off. But walking down the street, during this glorious splash of weather we’ve had in little old england recently (keep your fingers crossed that it stays this way), I was surprised to see the majority of young women sporting the trend after finally taking the chancy leap. The best thing about this flirty trend is the array of ways you can mix it up and incorporate the look into your wardrobe to suit any occasion (and without looking like you forgot to put your shirt on).

The bra top trend is playful and bohemian, coming in bold block colours and super fun prints, and looking glamorous or casual. It is a statement piece, and looks best if you have the confidence to match up to the garment.

One thing that was consistent on the runway, was a high waisted bottom. I believe the top should always be worn like this.

Top tip #1: You might want to book a few of those Pilate sessions, as the bandeau looks best with a flat stomach.

Top tip #2: The key to pulling off this trend is to keep the amount of skin showing the a minimum.

Top tip #3: For us petite ladies, wearing maxi length skirts or trousers can emphasise our height (or lack of) and so, to give the illusion or length team your outfit for a pair of heeled wedges.

I’ve put together some example looks from the highstreet for this flirty and fun Spring trend of 2012 especially for you;

Look #1;

This look is the perfect combination of grunge and femininity, for a day out round town. A denim jacket seems to work greatly with the bralet trend, and dresses it down for a casual appearance. Bralet from New Look, Skirt from Miss Selfridge, and Denim Jacket from H&M.

Look #2;

This look is pretty and feminine. A long chiffon maxi skirt with a flowing kimono is perfect for those not quite ready to take the full leap into the bralet trend. A very cute mix. Bra top from River Island, Chiffon Skirt from Top Shop, and Floral Kimono from Top Shop.

Look #3, Look #4 and Look #5;

Look #3; This outfit is from River Island, perfect for a day in the sunshine down by the sea.

Look #4; This is a very sexy pair, which is perfect for day or night, and has to be one of my favourite. Bralet from New Look and Pencil Skirt from New Look.

Look #5; This is a very cute look for a night out on the town, and would go hand-in-hand with a pair of sleek black heels. Apricot Top from Miss Selfridge, and PU Shorts from Miss Selfridge.

Look #6;

This outfit is so sophisticated and cute, refined and elegant. White Studded Bra Top from Miss Selfridge, Blazer from H&M, and Trousers from Monsoon.

Which is your favourite look? If you have a picture of yourself sporting this trend, please feel free to send it into us and you could feature in a future post!
